WHAT IS DOG RUN DOG?
Dog Run Dog is a 10K and 5K Race for Dogs and People. It's about Dog Running, the generic term for Canicross, a recreation and sport for dogs and people that is blooming around the world. It requires less training than other dog events like agility, frisbee, dock diving, or showing, making it easier for anyone to start.
Dogs love to run and people love to run with their dogs and so the concept of Dog Run Dog was born but it's not new. The sport has been around for a long time. The European Canicross Federation (ECF) and the Interantional Federation of Dogsledding Sports (IFSS) have been putting people and dogs together for a long time.
One of the major concerns in coordinating events with dogs is their cooling system. Dogs only release heat from between their toes and through breath (panting) so it's important to keep an eye on the temperatures and monitor them for signs of overheating.
We at Dog Run Dog cannot think of a better way to keep active than with one of your greatest companions.
OUR HISTORY
2005 - The first Dog Run Dog event is launched in Norwich VT, 36 teams arrive and run the 10K and 5K loop. The Norwich VT courses are now USATF certified and hold two Dog Running World Records.

*The only dogs, NOT ALLOWED at a Dog Run Dog event/race, as spectators or participants, are female dogs in any stage of heat.
Please, For The Safety Of All, do not bring any female dog in any stage of heat to a Dog Run Dog event.
